UGC NET Paper-1 में Comprehension से निम्न प्रकार के questions पूछे जाते हैं:

• Factual/Literal Questions — तथ्यात्मक/शाब्दिक प्रश्न: Passage में directly लिखी information पर आधारित
• Inferential Questions — अनुमानात्मक प्रश्न: Passage में explicit न लिखी, पर logically inferred जानकारी
• Main Idea Questions — मुख्य विचार: Passage का central point
• Title Questions — शीर्षक: Passage के लिए सबसे उपयुक्त title
• Purpose Questions — उद्देश्य: Author क्यों लिख रहा है
• Tone Questions — स्वर: Author का attitude या feeling
• Vocabulary Questions — शब्दावली: Unfamiliar word का contextual meaning
• Pronoun Reference Questions — सर्वनाम संदर्भ: Pronoun किस noun को refer कर रहा है
• Connector Questions — संयोजक: Connector का function/what it indicates
• Author's Argument Questions — लेखक का तर्क: Author का claim और उसका support

Strategy:

• Question में दिए गए keywords को passage में locate करें
• Passage के exact or paraphrased portion को पढ़ें
• उस portion से directly answer निकालें
• अपना अनुमान या personal opinion न लगाएँ

Example Question: "According to the passage, when was the first education policy introduced?" — Passage में date/event देखें।

Key Words in Questions: According to the passage, states that, mentions, according to, as per the passage, the passage says

Trick: Factual questions के answers passage में directly होते हैं। बस सही location खोजनी है।

Strategy:

• Passage में clues और hints खोजें
• Logical connection बनाएँ
• Author ने क्या छुपाया/सुझाया है — यह समझें
• Evidence-based conclusion निकालें

Example Question: "The author implies that..." — Author ने indirectly क्या कहा है?

Key Words in Questions: Implies, suggests, can be inferred, indicates, it can be concluded, most likely, probably

Trick: Inference केवल passage पर आधारित होना चाहिए। Personal knowledge/opinion नहीं use करें।

Strategy:

• Passage का central theme पहचानें
• Passage को एक वाक्य में summarise करने की कोशिश करें
• Supporting details को ignore करें
• Passage के introduction और conclusion पर ध्यान दें

Example Question: "What is the main idea of the passage?"

Key Words in Questions: Main idea, central idea, primarily concerned with, mainly discusses, overall theme

Trick: वह option जो all paragraphs को cover करता है — वही main idea है। Only one paragraph/detail वाला option नहीं है।

Strategy:

• Main idea को short phrase में express करें
• Title not too broad, not too narrow होना चाहिए
• All key aspects को cover करना चाहिए

Example Question: "Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage?"

Trick:

• Too Broad: "Education" (जब passage "Online Education in India" पर हो)
• Too Narrow: "Teacher Training" (जब passage whole online education system पर हो)
• Correct: "Online Education in India: Challenges and Opportunities"

Purpose Strategy:

• Passage का overall goal पहचानें
• Is author trying to inform, persuade, entertain, or explain?
• Look at the language and content of the passage

Tone Strategy:

• Author का attitude पहचानें
• Look at word choice (positive/negative words, formal/informal language)
• Consider sentence structure and style

Common Tones: Critical, optimistic, pessimistic, neutral, concerned, sarcastic, enthusiastic, formal, informal, sympathetic, apathetic

Strategy:

• Word के आस-पास के context clues देखें
• Look for synonyms, definitions, examples, contrasts around the word
• Word को replace करके check करें — क्या sentence का meaning same रहता है?

Example Question: "The word 'lauded' in the passage most nearly means..."

Trick: Word का dictionary meaning विकल्प में हो सकता है, लेकिन contextual meaning को select करें।

Pronoun Reference Strategy:

• Pronoun से immediately पहले के nouns को देखें
• Number (singular/plural) और gender agreement check करें
• Logical noun को select करें

Connector Strategy:

• Connector के function को समझें (contrast, addition, cause-effect, etc.)
• Passage में connector क्या relationship दिखा रहा है — यह पहचानें

Example Questions:

• "The pronoun 'they' refers to..."
• "What does the connector 'however' indicate?"

• Skim First — पहले स्किम करें: Passage को quickly पढ़ें (2-3 minutes). Focus on: Introduction, first sentence of each paragraph, conclusion.
• Read Questions — फिर questions पढ़ें: Questions पढ़कर समझें कि क्या खोजना है।
• Scan — स्कैन करें: Questions में keywords को passage में locate करें।
• Read Carefully — ध्यान से पढ़ें: उस specific portion को carefully पढ़ें और answer निकालें।

Alternative Approach (Question-First):

• पहले questions पढ़ें
• फिर passage scan करें
• Questions के answers को locate करें
• यह approach time-saving हो सकती है

Which approach to use?

• यदि passage short है → Skim first
• यदि passage long है → Questions first
• Practice में both approaches try करें और जो faster लगे वो use करें

• Too Broad: Option passage से व्यापक है → Eliminate
• Too Narrow: Option केवल एक detail को cover करता है → Eliminate
• Contradictory: Option passage से विपरीत है → Eliminate
• Out of Scope: Option passage में mention नहीं है → Eliminate
• Half Truth: Option partially correct पर incomplete है → Eliminate
• Extreme Language: "Always", "Never", "All", "None" वाले options से सावधान → अक्सर incorrect
• Absolute Statements: "Completely", "Entirely", "Absolutely" — often too extreme
• Personal Opinion: Option passage से unrelated personal view है → Eliminate

Elimination Formula:

• Total Time: UGC NET Paper-1 में Comprehension के लिए 15-20 minutes
• Passage Reading: 3-4 minutes (skimming)
• Questions Solving: 1-1.5 minutes per question
• Easy Questions First: Factual questions को पहले solve करें (fast)
• Difficult Questions Later: Inference/main idea questions को बाद में solve करें (more time)
• Don't Get Stuck: यदि कोई question 1.5 minutes से अधिक लग रहा है → skip and come back later
• Review: अंत में 2-3 minutes बचाकर review करें

• Error 1: Passage को completely न पढ़ना → Solution: At least skim the passage.
• Error 2: अपने personal knowledge का उपयोग करना → Solution: Answer हमेशा passage-based होना चाहिए।
• Error 3: Factual question में inference लगाना → Solution: Factual = direct answer.
• Error 4: Inference question में direct answer ढूँढना → Solution: Inference = logical conclusion.
• Error 5: Options को not comparing करना → Solution: Always compare all options before selecting.
• Error 6: Extreme options को eliminate नहीं करना → Solution: Always check for extreme language.
• Error 7: Vocabulary question में dictionary meaning select करना → Solution: Contextual meaning is the answer.
• Error 8: Time management में getting stuck → Solution: Skip and come back.
